Acne Treatment Myths
Sometimes, the things that make our lives worse are the
wrong decisions that we make. Just like in treating pimples,
we tend to believe in what other people say even if they are
not supported by sufficient studies. In short, we always
believe in myths that promise to solve acne problems easily.
However, one should be wary of them because they can cause
an even bigger pimple trouble.
Among the popular acne treatment myths that people follow is
the pimple popping. Unfortunately, pimple popping is not a
good thing to do because it can cause pain, redness,
infection, and ugly scars. Another myth that people tend to
believe is that chocolates and fried foods can cause
pimples. Aside from food, stress is also blamed by many for
causing acne. Although it is true that too much stress can
cause our faces to be oily, it does not necessarily mean
that one can acquire more zits because of it.
Having a tan to clear up acne is also one of the ridiculous
acne myths. Too much sunlight without putting sunscreen or
protection can only cause burned, irritated, and dried skin.
Excessive washing of face in order to cure acne won't work
as well. Constant washing can only dry the skin and
irritates pimples further. Meanwhile, some women do not use
makeup just to avoid having acne, but little do they know
that most cosmetic products today are "non-acnegenic" or
"non-comedogenic". Such cosmetic products do not clog the
skin pores, so it's okay to wear them. Most people,
especially the girls, believe that taking medicine or beauty
capsules will help remove acne and keep their skin smooth
and blemish-free. However, before trying these products, it
is advisable to contact a doctor first. In treating acne, be
mindful that not everything you hear is actually true.
Oftentimes, you might feel tempted to follow these "Old
Wives' Tales", but nothing beats getting expert medical
opinion first before resorting to such myths.
